Katie Babits joins Truman as a Membership Services Coordinator, helping align members working on complementary issues and works with the membership team to support the member population through advancing systems evolution and member communication.
Prior to joining Truman, Katie worked in local government and government adjacent roles in human resources and human rights, including hate crimes research and promoting inclusive governance. Most recently she was the Director of People and Culture for the World Athletics Championships Oregon22, bringing the second largest international track and field event to the United States in 2022. She has worked for the cities of Phoenix, Eugene, and Veneta, as well as an executive recruitment firm for local government, where she spoke at national conferences promoting equitable, inclusive, and representative local government. Her work in hate crimes research included planning and delivering a Forum on Hate Crimes in Eugene, Oregon with partners from the FBI, US Attorneys Office, DOJ and local actors to bring awareness to the impact of hate crimes on local community members.
Katie earned a Master's in Public Administration from Missouri State University and a Bachelor's with a double major in Criminal Justice and Religion and Philosophy from Missouri Valley College.
