Abigail McCarter is pursuing a Master’s of Arts in International Relations at Johns Hopkins SAIS in the fall of 2021. She has been interested in conflict resolution and international cooperation ever since studying abroad in the Balkans in the summer of 2018 and plans to join the Peace Corps after completing graduate school.
In May of 2021, Abigail graduated from Clemson University in South Carolina with a BS in Political Science, a BA in Spanish, and a minor in Russian Area Studies. Her undergraduate thesis focused on how varying levels of chaos in Latin American countries affect Russian diplomatic tactics in the region. During her years as an undergraduate student, Abigail worked as a summer intern for the State Department in the political section at US Embassy Belgrade, spent a summer working for the Association for Diplomatic Studies, mentored a small group of Russian high school students through EducationUSA Moscow, studied abroad in Córdoba, Argentina, served as president and public outreach chair of Clemson Diplomacy Club, and earned her certification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Abigail speaks proficient Spanish and intermediate Russian.
