Truman Project Partners

What is the Truman Project Partners Program?

Since 1968, conservatives have gained national support every time that national security has been high on the public's agenda. Right now progressives have a major opportunity to reclaim the mantle of a strong, smart approach that keeps our country safe.

The Truman Project Partners program helps young, highly-talented political professionals develop a deep understanding of this "progressive Achilles' heel" issue area, and builds a network of effective communicators to restore national security leadership.

The Truman Project Partners program is highly-selective, and it is the only training program of its kind—created specifically for exceptional group of political professionals to master an effective progressive approach to national security. Truman Project Partners commit to a specially designed training program -- mandatory orientation is scheduled for April 10 -- and can opt into continuing training and networking opportunities.

Participants learn:

  • The story of progressive national security success, and how to use this narrative effectively
  • The underlying values, concerns, and fears of progressives, conservatives, and the "sensible center" on security issues, and how to effectively connect with the public based on these values
  • How to avoid common mistakes in working with the military, veterans, and military families, and how to reach out to these communities based on shared values
  • How the US Government's national security and foreign affairs apparatus works, and why it is crucially important
  • National Security's increasing role as the millennial generation becomes the biggest demographic bloc in the country, and brings their global focus to American politics

Participants gain:

  • Access to the Truman Project's network of Mentors, Senior Fellows, and Fellows
  • A stronger network of professional political staff with shared understanding of national security
  • Assistance from the Truman Project's communications staff to publish op-eds and expand media presence
