Military 101
These 90 minute sessions are taught by progressive veterans and offer an introduction to the U.S. military's structure and culture. They provide insights and information every public leader and citizen of the United States should have to bridge the civil-military divide.
Participants are provided with materials ranging from "The Military Basics Every American Should Know" to "Top Ten Mistakes Politicians Make When Talking to the Military," and learn skills from how to read a military uniform, to how to really understand the values that drive service-members.
Creating enduring relationships of deep understanding between progressive policy leaders, politicians, and our country's military is a crucial component of our work, and Military 101 trainings are built into all of our leadership development programs.
Military 101 sessions are run by the Truman National Security Project Educational Institute, a sister 501(c)3 organization.
