Steven G. Glickman
Steve Glickman is Director for International Economic Affairs with the White House National Security Staff. His responsibilities include supporting the President, National Security Advisor, Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economic Affairs, and the Director of the National Economic Council on a wide range of international trade and foreign investment issues.
Prior to joining NSS, Mr. Glickman was Senior Policy Advisor with the White House National Economic Council, where he coordinated strategy, federal programs, public-private partnerships, and policy-making for manufacturing, trade, investment, supply chain, and innovation and technology issues. Mr. Glickman also held positions in the Obama Administration as Special Advisor to the Import Administration and Chief of Staff of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service in the International Trade Administration at the U.S. Department of Commerce. Previously, Mr. Glickman also served as Deputy Associate Counsel at the White House.
Before coming into the Obama Administration, Mr. Glickman worked at the Obama-Biden Presidential Transition Team headquarters as a vetting attorney. Mr. Glickman also was a staff member with the 2008 Obama for America presidential campaign as Investigative Counsel to the Democratic National Committee.
Prior to these roles, Mr. Glickman was Majority Counsel to Chairman Henry Waxman on the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. In this position, he led investigations and managed congressional hearings on waste, fraud, and abuse in federal government operations with a particular focus on the U.S. conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Mr. Glickman also served as an Honors Program Attorney in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, where he was a Trial Attorney for the Office of International Affairs and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia.
Mr. Glickman received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Government and English from Georgetown University (magna cum laude), a Master of Arts (M.A.) in American Government from Georgetown University, a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the Columbia University School of Law, where he was an editor of the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law, and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Public International Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science (with distinction). He was born in Michigan, raised in Southern California, and currently lives in Washington D.C.
