Steve Heitkamp

Steve Heitkamp is a counter-terrorism specialist for the New York Police Department (NYPD) Intelligence Division. Prior to working for the NYPD, Mr. Heitkamp worked on counter-proliferation and counter-terrorism issues for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). While with the DIA, Mr. Heitkamp deployed to Baghdad, Iraq in support of special operations forces, receiving the Secretary of Defense Medal for the Global War on Terrorism. Mr. Heitkamp has also worked as a political risk consultant for The Economist Intelligence Unit and Ergo. Mr. Heitkamp has a M.A. in International Relations from The Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, Tufts University, where he was a Phyllis E. and C. Douglas Dillon Fellow, and a B.A. in History from The Colorado College. His writing has been published in the peer-reviewed journal Global Health Governance and France’s Le Monde.
