Stephen Viña is the Democratic Staff Director for the Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence on the House Committee on Homeland Security. Previously, Mr. Viña served as the Staff Director for the Subcommittee on Emergency Communications, Preparedness, and Response and as a Senior Counsel on the Committee advising Democratic Members on border security, immigration enforcement, and port of entry issues.  From 2002 to 2007, Mr. Viña was a legislative attorney at the Congressional Research Service (CRS) in Washington D.C, providing nonpartisan legal counsel to Congress in the areas of border security, immigration enforcement, water resources, and agriculture.  Mr. Viña graduated from the University of Texas-Pan American and holds a J.D. from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, where he served as a notes and comments editor on Law Review.
