Michael Derham

Mike Derham is the lead emerging market salesperson for Market Axess, a leadingplatform for the electronic trading of fixed-income securities. Prior tojoining MarketAxess, Mike was a staff writer with Latin Finance Magazine,covering financial, political and security issues throughout the Westernhemisphere. In that role he investigated and authored pieces on money-laundering and fundraising; the political and security implications ofeconomic developments; and the evolution of the political environment in LatinAmerica. He regularly met and interviewed newsmakers, ministers and heads ofstate. As member of the editorial staff, Derham chaired and participated inpanels of academics, business people and journalists discussing security andeconomic issues in the hemisphere. Mike has a Masters of Arts degree in International Affairs and International Economics from the Johns Hopkins Schoolof Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a B.A. from the Johns HopkinsUniversity. He has studied at the SAIS Bologna Center in Italy and additionallylived in Brazil and Argentina. Mike lives in New York City, but tries to visita new country every year. He doesn’t bicycle as much as he would like. He isfluent in Spanish and Portuguese, and is pleased to have recently discoveredthat he’s still conversant in Italian.
