Melanie Roe

Melanie Roe currently serves as Deputy Chief of Staff for U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the Department of Homeland Security.  Prior to this position, she served as Special Assistant to the Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security and as a spokesperson on the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Committee.  During the 2008 election cycle, she was Director of Hall Management at the Democratic National Convention in Denver, and later served as Deputy Communications Director for Senator Joe Biden on the Obama Campaign.  In 2004, she worked on the Kerry Campaign starting in the New Hampshire primary and traveled daily with Senator Kerry as a briefing and speechwriting aide during the presidential campaign.  

Melanie has a Masters in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and B.A. in political science and French from Wellesley College.  She grew up in Mexico City.
