Megan Rooney

Megan is a speechwriter for U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.  She writes on a range of topics including human rights and democracy, economic and social development, regional security architectures, global health and hunger, climate change, and the empowerment of women.  Before joining the State Department, Megan was the speechwriter for Michelle Obama during the final stretch of the Obama for America presidential campaign.  For five years, she was a writer with West Wing Writers, a speechwriting and communications strategy firm in Washington, D.C., whose clients include heads of state, politicians and political activists, corporate executives, non-profit leaders, and university presidents.

Before becoming a speechwriter, Megan was a journalist, writing for the Washington Post and the Chronicle of Higher Education.  As an undergraduate at Brown University, she studied classics, but really majored in the Brown Daily Herald, her college newspaper.
