Manan Trivedi
Manan Trivedi is an Iraq war veteran, primary care doctor, and a health policy researcher who is currently running for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District.
Born and raised in Berks County, PA, Manan graduated from Fleetwood High School and earned his BS and MD from Boston University. After medical school, he was commissioned into the US Navy and served as the Battalion Surgeon for the 1st Battalion, 5th Regiment Marine Corps Infantry Battalion, one of the first ground forces to enter Iraq in 2003. As commander of the medical team, he led his staff in treating over 300 traumatic injuries during the first three months ofthe war. For his service, Manan earned the Combat Action Ribbon and his unit was awarded the Presidential UnitCitation.
Dr. Trivedi is a board-certified internist and has conducted research in the areas of military and veterans’ health, pharmacoeconomics and mental healthcare. His record of civic leadership and service includes positions at the US Department of Health and Human Services and the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery. He has also advised political leaders on heath care issues, most recently serving as a health policy advisor to Barack Obama during the 2008 elections.
