Lynn Parker

Lynn Parker currently serves as the Special Assistant to the General Counsel at the Department of Homeland Security.  In addition to her role as Special Assistant, Lynn also serves as the acting Office of the General Counsel Executive Secretariat.  She works on a varied portfolio of issues, particularly issues related to privacy and civil rights and civil liberties.  Prior to joining the Office of the General Counsel, Lynn served as the Special Assistant to the Chief Privacy Officer at DHS.  In that role, Lynn’s work focused on the Department of Homeland Security’s participation  in the Information Sharing Environment, particularly the role of fusion centers.  Lynn reviewed privacy policies for compliance with the Information Sharing Environment Privacy Guidelines and provided privacy training to both DHS and state fusion center employees.  She also led a review and assessment team  tasked to review training received by employees within Customs and Border Protection.

Immediately prior to her appointment to the Department of Homeland Security Lynn was an associate in the litigation practice group of Burr Forman LLP.  She also served on President Obama’s 2008 campaign team as an organizer in Georgia and Florida and served as a law clerk to Chief Judge Michael P. Mills in the Northern District of Mississippi.  Lynn graduated summa cum  laude from Mississippi State University with a degree in Business Administration and received her law degree from the University of Mississippi.
