Laurie Dundon

Laurie Dundon is Director of Transatlantic Relations at the Bertelsmann Foundation, one of Europe’s leading think tanks, where she works to foster foreign policy collaboration between senior level officials in the U.S. and Europe.

Previously Ms. Dundon worked for The Albright Group LLC, a global strategic advisory firm founded by former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.  She advised multinational corporations in markets across Europe, Russia, the Middle East, and Africa.  She built strategic partnerships on behalf of Fortune 100 companies, identified political risk in emerging markets, and worked on CSR projects in diverse sectors including health, climate change and media.  She represented the firm before foreign governments and in G8 stakeholder consultations.  Ms. Dundon has also worked as International Policy Director for the Save Darfur Coalition, a network of over 180 NGOs advocating to end atrocities in Sudan.  She provided strategic advice on engaging foreign governments and international organizations, public messaging and advocacy strategy, and directed visits to Chad.    

Ms. Dundon served at the U.S. State Department from 1998-2001 as a senior advisor to the Special Envoy of the President and Secretary of State for Democracy in the Balkans, the lead official for U.S. diplomatic, economic, and security policy in the region.  She covered policy with Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Croatia, and Bosnia.  She served in Kosovo, working closely with local political leaders and multilateral organizations including the UN, EU, OSCE, and NATO.   Ms. Dundon is a graduate of Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service and the University of Portland, and has lived and worked in Germany.  She was a Presidential Management Fellow and has received honor awards for her service at the State Department.  In 2007, she was a Transatlantic Fellow for the German Marshall Fund of the United States.  Ms. Dundon retained a TS/SCI security clearance until 2004.
