Katherine Southwick
Katherine Southwick is a lawyer with expertise in human rights and U.S. foreign policy in developing countries. She was recently the Robert L. Bernstein Fellow at Refugees International in Washington DC, focusing on statelessness, international criminal law, and other international law issues. Katherine grew up in Africa as the daughter of a U.S. Foreign Service Officer, completing high school in Nairobi, Kenya. She has a B.A. and a J.D. from Yale University. She has clerked in the Eastern District of New York and practiced international arbitration in a major international law firm. She has worked in the Office of the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, the State Department's Office of the Legal Adviser, and for human rights organizations in India, Thailand, and Uganda. She has commented on the northern Uganda conflict and other human rights issues in major news media and scholarly publications.
