Justin Oberman
Justin has more than 14 years of experience in transportation, including in the aviation, rail, maritime, and logistics/intermodal sectors, and in homeland security, defense, and finance. This includes senior executive roles in the U.S. Departments of Transportation and Homeland Security, and in the private sector as a management consultant and later as co-founder of a boutique financial advisory firm.
Justin served as a member of the homeland security policy committee for President Obama’s campaign and on the campaign economic development committee for the new President of Cook County (IL) Government. Justin was a candidate for Illinois State Treasurer in February 2010; he received more than 340,000 votes statewide.
He also provides strategic and financial consulting services to middle market companies in the transportation, homeland security, business aviation, aerospace, and defense sectors, and supports institutional investors by identifying investment opportunities, evaluating strategic options, and structuring deals. He recently represented investors on two “363” asset sales.
Justin was a founding member of TSA in November 2001. In July 2003, he founded the Office of Transportation Threat Assessment and Credentialing (TTAC), and served as Assistant TSA Administrator directing an office of more than 125 employees and 400 contractors with an annual budget of $150 million. Justin reported to the head of TSA and was responsible for more than a dozen programs covering airline passengers as well as 5 million transportation workers in all modes. These included Secure Flight, Registered Traveler, TWIC, Hazprint, and Alien Flight Student vetting. Justin had a Top Secret-SCI clearance.
