Johna Ohtagaki
Johna Ohtagaki serves as Special Assistant in the Office of the Special Representative for North Korea Policy at the U.S. Department of State. She previously worked at the State Department as North Korea Desk Officer in the Bureau for East Asia and Pacific Affairs, Office of Korean Affairs, and as an attorney in Passport Services, Legal Affairs. From 2007-2008, Johna worked on Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign in the office of Senior Advisor Cheryl Mills. Johna was a 2007 Presidential Management Fellow and has served as an adjunct professor at George Mason School of Law.
Johna served as a legal intern in the Department of Defense General Counsel’s Office, International Affairs from 2006-2007. During law school, Johna was also the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Law, Economics, and Policy. From 1998-2004, Johna ran a small business in San Francisco, CA and continues to serve on its corporate board. Johna has a B.A. in International Relations from George Washington University, Mt. Vernon College; a J.D. from George Mason School of Law; and is a member of the Maryland bar.
