Joanne Tompkins
Joanne Tompkins currently works for the Department of Defense as a command and control analyst. Her portfolio includes strategic rocket forces, leadership issues and crisis analysis. Ms. Tompkins joined the DOD in 2007, after working as a defense contractor for the International Affairs directorate at the Missile Defense Agency. She worked with both the Europe and the Asia teams to negotiate international cooperative agreements on missile defense projects. In 2002, Ms. Tompkins was selected as a New China Fellow by the Henry L. Stimson Center in Washington, DC. She researched Chinese views on nuclear deterrence; her findings were published in Arms Control Today. Ms. Tompkins has a Master’s degree in Security Policy Studies from the Elliott School in International Affairs at George Washington University, and a Bachelor’s degree from Siena College in Loudonville, NY.
