Joan Shipps

 

Joan Shipps is an International Trade Specialist at the International Trade Administration, where she focuses on the negotiation and analysis of multilateral and bilateral international trade agreements, with particular emphasis on promoting U.S. industry in foreign markets.  Previously, Joan worked as a researcher for Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, a committee of the Executive Branch that assesses incoming foreign investment transactions with potential U.S. national security implications. Joan has also worked on export control policy for the Bureau of Industry and Security and on international development efforts in the non-profit sector. Joan holds a B.A. from St. Mary’s College of Maryland in International Languages and Cultures and an M.A. from American University’s School of International Service in International Economic Relations. Joan has also studied at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences-Po). In her spare time, Joan cooks, caters, and volunteers with organizations that promote the wellbeing of people with disabilities. Joan lives in Washington, DC with her husband and Truman Partner, Nolan Treadway.
