Jessica Lee
Jessica Lee is a Senior Legislative
Assistant at the Office of Congressman Jim McDermott (D-WA). She advises the
Member on considerations related to foreign policy, immigration, women’s
issues, and veterans’ affairs. Prior to joining the office in January 2011,
Jessica was a professional staff member at the House Committee on Foreign
Affairs, where she advised then-Chairman Howard Berman (D-CA) on legislative
considerations pertaining to Asia and the Pacific region and oversaw U.S.
diplomatic and development assistance efforts abroad. Her official trips on
behalf of the committee include People’s Republic of China, Japan, Republic of
Korea, India, Australia and all of ASEAN except Brunei. Prior to joining the
committee in June 2008, Jessica served as a student adviser to a progressive
think tank called the Impact Center, where she organized youth summits across
the country for young people to engage in politics. Jessica is a 2011
Congressional Fellow at the Partnership for a Secure America. In May 2011, she
was selected to participate in the State Department-sponsored program, Young
Turkey/Young America, with emerging leaders in Turkey and the U.S.. Jessica
received an A.M. in Regional Studies-East Asia at Harvard University and a B.A.
from Wellesley College. She is fluent in Korean.
