Jarrod Hayes is currently an assistan professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Perviously he was the ConocoPhillips Assistant Professor of International Relations at the University of Oklahoma.  Born in 1978 in Denver, Colorado, he moved with his family to Georgia in 1988.  A decade later, he matriculated at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he met his wife (Janelle Knox-Hayes) and graduated with a degree in Political Science (Magna CumLaude) and Astrophysics.  Following his graduation from the University of Colorado, Hayes was accepted to the Politics and International Relations doctoral program at the University of Southern California.  He spent 4 years in Los Angeles before moving to Oxford, UK to join his wife who was a doctoral candidate at the University of Oxford.  There, he finished writing his dissertation on securitization theory and the democratic peace and received his PhD — with an emphasis on international security, foreign policy analysis, and comparative politics — in 2009.  That same year, Jarrod received a job offer from the University of Oklahoma, which he accepted.  There, he teaches courses on international relations theory and international security while conducting research on the relationship between identity, politics, and security.
