Jamie Smith
Jamie E. Smith is currently serving in the 111th Congress as the Communications Director for the Senate Commerce Committee and its Chairman, Senator John D. Rockefeller IV. In the 110th Congress she served as the Communications Director for the Senate Intelligence Committee of which Rockefeller was previously Chair. Prior to these posts, she served as Traveling Press Director for the Hillary Clinton for President Campaign. Smith spent four years traveling the globe before joing the campaign trail as the Director of Communications of The Albright Group, led by Madeleine K. Albright, former U.S. Secretary of State, Carol M. Browner, former Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Wendy R. Sherman, former Counselor of the U.S. State Department, and James C. O'Brien, former U.S. State Department Special Envoy. Smith has also served as Legislative aide to Congresswoman Nita M. Lowey, primarily assisting with the Congresswomanʼs work on the Appropriations and Homeland Security Committees, and she served as Operations Manager for Issue Advocacy at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Smith has also volunteered as a DC Rape Crisis counselor and as a clinic defense escort at the Washington Area Clinic Defense Task Force. Smith holds a B.A. from Kenyon College, and studied International History and Social Policy at the University of Edinburgh. She is from Buffalo Grove, Illinois.
