Halie Soifer
Foreign Policy Advisor, Senator Christopher A. Coons
Halie Soifer is the Foreign Policy Advisor for Senator Christopher Coons (D-DE). Halie serves as the professional representative for Senator Coons to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and Africa Subcommittee, which he chairs. Most recently, Halie served as the Foreign Policy Advisor for Senator Ted Kaufman (D-DE), and as his staffer to both the Foreign Relations and Armed Services Committees.
Previously, Halie served as a Foreign Affairs Officer in the Political-Military Affairs Bureau at the State Department, where she focused on regional security and arms transfers to the Middle East. Halie also spent four years as Foreign Policy Advisor and Legislative Assistant for Congressman Robert Wexler (D-FL), a former Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Prior to her experience in the House, Halie was speechwriter for the Israeli Ambassador to the United States.
In the 2008 election, Halie worked for the Obama campaign as the Jewish Vote Director in Florida and later assisted the Obama national security transition team. She received her Master's degree in Middle East studies and international economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and Bachelor's degree in political science and sociology from the University of Michigan Honors College, Phi Beta Kappa.
