Elizabeth O'Herrin

Elizabeth is currently pursuing her MA in Government at The Johns Hopkins University. She enlisted in the Air National Guard on September 13, 2001 and completed three deployments to the Middle East as a munitions systems technician: fusing, assembling, inspecting, and transporting bombs and missiles. In 2008 Elizabeth co-founded the national non-profit Student Veterans of America, a coalition of veterans organizations on campuses across the country. After the passage of the historic Post-9/11 GI Bill, Elizabeth joined the American Council on Education (ACE), an association of 1,800 college and university presidents, where she led the organization’s veterans education initiative.  Elizabeth regularly presents at national and regional conferences and has organized or presented at veterans-related events involving thousands of higher education practitioners. Elizabeth earned her BA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is a Pat Tillman Military Scholar, and is currently representing Student Veterans of America on President Obama’s Federal Interagency Task Force on Veterans Small Business.
