Dr. Nancy Brune

Dr. Nancy E. Brune is currently working at Sandia National Laboratories on issues of national security/energy security, the energy-water-security nexus, and climate change/human impacts and teaches at the College of Southern Nevada. Previously, she was Director of Research and Policy at UNLV's Institute for Security Studies where she directed the Energy Security Policy Initiative. She is currently on the international advisory board of the Journal of Energy Security. In addition, she has worked on issues of the smart grid and energy storage. Brune's areas of interests are energy security, national security, international development, democracy and governance in post-conflict areas and global public health. Her areas of geographical expertise include Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa. Brune has consulted with the Harvard School of Public Health, JPMorgan Chase, the Overseas Private Investment Corporation and the World Bank. She received her Ph.D. from Yale University, and a Master of Public Policy degree and B.A. from Harvard University. Brune is a graduate of the EmergeNevada political training program and the Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Las Vegas program. She is a member of the Clark County Democratic Central Committee, the Nevada State Democratic Party, and was a founding member (and Vice-Chair) of the Clark County Democratic Hispanic Caucus. She is a member of Women in International Security and the Pacific Council on International Policy.
