Derek Dorn

Derek Dorn, a partner of Davis & Harman LLP, leverages Washington know-how and technical proficiency to help clients advance priorities through the policymaking process. His law practice concentrates on legislative and regulatory matters related to taxation and benefits. Derek represents a range of corporations and organizations, with a focus on financial services and energy industries. He is particularly interested in policies at the intersection of tax, economic development, and energy. From 2008 to 2011, he served as Senior Finance Counsel to Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee Chairman Jeff Bingaman (D-NM), and as Staff Director of the Senate Finance Subcommittee on Energy, Natural Resources & Infrastructure.  Earlier, Derek was Economic Policy Counsel to Senator Joseph Lieberman (ID-CT). Before entering public service, he managed a global investment research firm's Washington office. Derek began his legal career practicing tax, trust, and estate law, first with Milbank Tweed and then Patterson Belknap in New York. He has also completed a fellowship in income security policy at the AFL-CIO.  A New York native, Derek is a graduate of Cornell University and Yale Law School.  Active in several Democratic organizations, he is an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University Law Center, sits on Yale Law School's Executive Committee, and is an Atlantik-Brücke Foundation Young Leader.
