
Craig Hanson’s policy, analysis and organizing work is centered at the confluence of economic development, foreign policy and national security. Craig is a Partner with Next World Capital, an international venture capital firm where he manages the firm's investment efforts in the U.S. and Europe. Craig also conducts independent research, analysis and drafting of public-sector program ideas at the nexus of economic development and national security. He has been exploring economic development programs to foster entrepreneurship and innovation as an important economic engine and integral part of U.S. foreign policy. Craig has met with senior officials at agencies involved in foreign economic policy to offer input on their programs. He is the Chair of the Silicon Valley Leadership Committee of Nuru International, a social innovation non-profit providing holistic programs to fight extreme poverty in the developing world. Nuru was developed at Stanford and is led by a former Marine Special Operations Platoon Commander to address the link between extreme poverty and extremism, violence and social problems. Craig is on the National Finance Committee of Obama for America 2012 and a member of the Transition Team for Attorney General of California Kamala D. Harris where he advises on technology policy. In 2011 Craig was named one of the top 40 Under 40 Leaders nationally by the New Leaders Council. He graduated from Carleton College and the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was a Sloan Fellow and President of his class.
