Christopher Miller
Chris Miller is a Purple Heart recipient and nine year veteran of the U.S. Army, having served two full deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He developed hands-on experience in counterinsurgency operations, served as a convoy security commander, screened and recruited members of the new Iraqi Police in 2003-04, and served as an advisor to the new Iraqi Army as a member of a Military Transition Team (MiTT) in 2005-06. He then served as a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense Sergeant with the 771st Civil Support Team in Bamberg, Germany and has expertise in weapons of mass destruction. After leaving the military, he worked in a law firm in Berlin, Germany and served as a military contractor in Kuwait, focused on military small-arms expertise in support of OIF/OEF. He also completed an LL.B(Honours) with the Open University-Milton Keynes, UK and will be attending the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law of England and Wales at Chester with a view to becoming a practicing Solicitor.
Since returning to the States in 2010, he has been a leading energy security advocate with Operation FREE, a coalition of former-military leaders demanding American energy security, independence from oil, and 'green' technology and appeared in a Reed Award-winning ad for Best Public Affairs Campaign of 2010 in support of the American Power Act. He serves as the Political Director of the Truman Fellows-Chicago chapter. He has been married to Hannah Seyffert, an attorney of Berlin, Germany since 2003. He speaks fluent German and is trying really hard to learn Arabic.
