Christian Cooper

Christian is the Head of US Rate Derivatives Trading at Jefferies in New York. He trades any instrument linked to interest rates including US Government debt, futures on debt, swaps, and options on swaps to name a few. He is the Director of Banking for a New Beginning (BNB), a public / private partnership between the Aspen Institute and the US Department of State focused on deepening engagement between the private sector in the US and the central banks in Tunisia, Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Morocco, Indonesia, Egypt and Algeria. The aim of BNB is to built partnerships with the central banks that promote economic opportunity, enhance educational opportunities, and enhance anti-money laundering and anti-terrorism financing where appropriate. 


He is the author of a course on derivatives risk management written for candidates of the FRM (Financial Risk Management) designation. This is offered in conjunction with the New York Institute of Finance and taught both live and online in various locations around the world. He holds both the CFA and FRM designations and is a graduate of King College.


Christian is a member of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), and the Aspen Institute Society of Fellows. He has just wrapped production of his first feature length movie as executive producer and "Omphalos" is set for a 2013 release date.
