Carlissa Carson

Ms. Carson is an attorney and a Judge Advocate in the U.S. Army Reserves.  She serves her unit as the Chief of International and Operational Law.  Previously, she served as a Military Intelligence officer.  She is a member of the Atlanta New Leaders Council, the State Bar of Georgia, and the Apex Society.  Ms. Carson received a B.A. from Oglethorpe University where she majored in Political Science and minored in French.  She received a J.D. from Emory Univ. School of Law in 2008.  She was a Notes & Comments Editor of the Emory Law Journal and her comment about the implications of the Military Commissions Act was published in the Journal.  Ms. Carson also participated in the International Humanitarian Law Clinic.  Her participation in the Clinic carried her to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where she assisted with the representation of Hamdan, Osama bin Laden's personal bodyguard and driver. Ms. Carson received an LL.M and a Certificate in International Human Rights Law from Georgetown Law in 2009.  Ms. Carson's most recent accomplishments include being selected as an Atlanta Power 30 Under 30 and publication of a second law review article.
