Benjamin Spatz
Benjamin J. Spatz is an international development professional with particular focus on the dynamics among conflict, displacement and development. He currently advises clients on international programming and political risk, primarily in Africa.
Mr. Spatz previously was Vice President of the consulting firm Endeavor Group where he advised clients and managed major international philanthropic engagements. Prior to that, he served as Special Advisor to two Cabinet Ministers in the Government of Liberia: Â first to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and subsequently the Minister of Internal Affairs. In these capacities, he advised on policy and programming and had primary responsibility for peacebuilding, sub-national governance, local development and disaster assistance, among many other issues.
Mr. Spatz has also worked in Darfur, Sudan with the development and relief organization, CHF International, with the political risk advisory firm, Eurasia Group and previously in Liberia with the United Nations Office for Project Services.
Mr. Spatz graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle with degrees in Philosophy and International Studies. He holds a Master of Science in Foreign Service degree and a certificate in Refugees and Complex Humanitarian Emergencies from Georgetown’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service.
