Anuj Gupta
"Anuj Gupta is currently the Executive Director of Mt. Airy, USA. Mt. Airy USA is a community development corporation in Northwest Philadelphia focused on commercial and residential real estate development and rehabilitation, commercial corridor revitalization and housing counseling. Prior to this position, he served for three years (2008- 2010) in Mayor Michael A. Nutter’s administration in a number of roles including Chief of Staff and Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Licenses & Inspections, and Deputy to the Managing Director. In addition to his responsibilities within these roles, Anuj also implemented a number of initiatives to make the City of Philadelphia more welcoming to immigrants including forming the Mayor’s Asian Advisory Commission, advocating for immigrant friendly executive orders and spearheading the International Philadelphia workgroup. Prior to joining Mayor Nutter’s administration, Anuj was an attorney at Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP where he practiced in the firm’s real estate/affordable housing group from 2004-2008. During his time at the firm, he handled several pro bono asylum applications.
Anuj is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School (J.D., 2003), the University of Pennsylvania’s Fels Institute of Government (M.G.A., 2003) and Carnegie Mellon University (B.S., 1996). He currently is a board member of the Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians, the Wissahickon Charter School and West Mt. Airy Neighbors. In 2010, he was selected as one of the Philadelphia Business Journal’s “40 under 40” and was a regional finalist for the 2010 class of White House fellows.
