Ananda Martin

 

Ananda Martin is an associate in the Corporate practice of Paul Hastings. She advises U.S. and multinational clients on general corporate law and compliance with anti-corruption laws under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act ("FCPA"). Ms. Martin concentrates on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, financing transactions, and FCPA-related due diligence.  She also helps establish and maintain anti-corruption policies and corporate governance practices for companies operating in foreign markets.

Prior to joining Paul Hastings, Ms. Martin counseled new and emerging growth companies on general corporate matters in the Silicon Valley, focusing on the high tech sector.  Later, she led the corporate practice of a multinational law firm in Shanghai, advising U.S. clients on establishing and growing their presence in China, mergers and acquisitions, and FCPA compliance.  She has also practiced litigation in New York, where she worked on a variety of complex commercial litigation matters and internal investigations involving Fortune 100 multinational corporations, including a number of Asia-based clients.

Ms. Martin has been appointed to the American Bar Association's Global Anti-Corruption Task Force.

Ms. Martin received her B.A. in Japanese language and cultural anthropology, with a concentration in biology, from Washington University in St. Louis. She holds an M.A. in East Asian History from Columbia University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. Ms. Martin is a member of the California and New York State bars.  She is also a member of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, a U.S.-Japan Foundation Fellow, and a member of the American Bar Association Global Anti-Corruption Task Force.  She is a native English speaker and conversant in Mandarin and Japanese.
