Amit Magdieli

Amit Magdieli serves as the Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor to the Department of Labor, Veterans Employment and Training Service.  His responsibilities include developing new programs to prepare Veterans to seek employment, provide them with support throughout their career, and protect their employment rights. Prior to his White House appointment to DOL in 2009, he spent 10 years in the private sector as a management consultant to government focusing on people development strategies, government program improvement and financial management. Amit held a leadership role managing innovation activities in IBM’s Global Leadership Initiative, which created products and services to align with the emerging needs at the federal, state and local government levels. In addition to an expertise in operations, Mr. Magdieli has extensive background with the Department of Labor spending 5 years working with the Department on improving programs and managerial cost accounting throughout the Department. He regularly speaks at conferences, workshops and briefings around the country to a wide array of public and private sector professionals on the value a Veteran brings to an organization and the programs available to Veterans looking to enter the workforce and employers who are hiring them.   

Mr. Magdieli received his MBA in Management and Finance from the Johns Hopkins University and his BA in Economics and Political Science from Emory University. He has co-authored books, articles and white papers on a variety of government management topics, most recently a white paper titled: Optimizing Government Effectiveness Through Shared Services and a book Managing Public Dollars: New Rules, New Roles, New Opportunities for Federal Financial Managers.
