Sidney Olinyk
Sidney directs and manages our flagship Truman Security Fellowship and Members Programs, as well as the Truman Project Board of Principals. In this capacity, Sidney guides and oversees operations of nine Chapters nationwide, 12 Fellowship affinity expert groups, the Fellowship National Selection Committee, and she is the lead on planning the Truman Project’s annual three-day national conference.
Prior to joining the Truman Project, Sidney worked at a strategic government relations firm where she contributed to comprehensive political strategy for international accounts. She worked closely with Congressional and Embassy staffs and conducted extensive research and analysis on foreign policy issues. Sidney also gained experience in the Antitrust Division at the U.S. Department of Justice, where she conducted legal research and analysis for several complex international merger investigations. Prior to the Justice Department, Sidney served as a member of the Public Affairs team at the British Embassy in Washington, D.C.
Sidney holds a dual B.A. in International Studies and Media and Government Studies from the American University in Washington, D.C. She holds a M.Sc. in Global Politics from the London School of Economics, where her course concentration focused on international development, and her dissertation examined the deficiencies of the state-centric global refugee regime, using Iraqi refugees post-2003 as her case study.
