Wendy R. Anderson

Wendy R. Anderson is a professional staff member on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, handling the international security portfolio for the Subcommittee on Federal Financial Management, Government Information, Federal Services, and International Security. Recently, she served as the intelligence liaison for Senator Barbara Mikulski. Prior to that, she was the Foreign Affairs/Defense Legislative Assistant for Senator Frank Lautenberg. Early in the campaign, she served as one of the Deputy National Security Issues Coordinators for the National Security Team of the John Kerry presidential campaign, and has worked as a political consultant for David Gergen and on Mark Pryor's 2002 Senate campaign. Ms. Anderson served as the Deputy Director for External Affairs for Women Waging Peace, working with U.S. Ambassador Swanee Hunt at the Kennedy School of Government. In this role, Anderson worked in conflict-zones such as the Balkans, Burundi, Cyprus, Israel and the territories, No. Ireland, and Rwanda. As a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship recipient, she studied the prevention of deadly conflict in Russia, Israel, the Palestinian territories, and India. Ms. Anderson, who is from Arkansas, received her B.A. from Hendrix College, a Master's Degree in Philosophy and Religion from the Harvard Divinity School, and a Master's in International Affairs from Columbia's School of International and Public Affairs. She is a Term Member at the Council on Foreign Relations.
