Ronald A. Klain

Ron Klain is Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Revolution LLC, a Washington-based investment firm recently launched by AOL Co-Founder Steve Case. Prior to joining Revolution, Mr. Klain was a partner with the law firm of O'Melveny & Myers LLP. Mr. Klain was General Counsel for the Gore-Lieberman Recount Committee. In recognition of this work, The National Law Journal named him one of its "Lawyers of the Year" for 2000. In 2004, Mr. Klain served as Debate Preparation Coordinator for the Kerry-Edwards Presidential Campaign. From 1995 to 1999, Mr. Klain served as Assistant to the President and Chief of Staff and Counselor to Vice President Al Gore. Before that he served as Chief of Staff and Counselor to Attorney General Janet Reno, and Associate Counsel to the President -- where he directed judicial selection efforts, and led the team that won confirmation of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Mr. Klain also has extensive experience on Capitol Hill. In 1995, he was selected by Senator Tom Daschle to be Staff Director of the Senate Democratic Leadership Committees. Earlier, from 1989 to 1992, he served as Chief Counsel of the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary, overseeing the legal staff's work on matters of constitutional law, criminal law, antitrust law, and Supreme Court nominations. Mr. Klain also previously served as Legislative Director for Rep. Ed Markey. Mr. Klain began his legal career as a Law Clerk to Supreme Court Justice Byron R. White, for the Court's 1987 and 1988 Terms, and graduated from Harvard Law School and Georgetown University. In 1994, Time magazine named Ron Klain one of the "50 most promising leaders in America" under the age of 40. In 1999, Mr. Klain was identified by Washingtonian magazine as the top lawyer in Washington under the age of 40, and by the ABA's Barrister magazine as one of the top 20 young lawyers nationwide. He has also commented on matters of law and policy on televised programs such as Today, Good Morning America, Nightline, Capital Report, The News Hour, and Crossfire. He lives in Washington, DC, with his wife and three children.
